The Autumn Elegy, by Glowing Swords

The Autumn Elegy

Incoming drone goodness via collaborative project Glowing Swords, consisting of Zachary Corsa (Nonconnah, ex Lost Trail) and Scott Cortez (Astrobrite, Lovesliescrushing). The Autumn Elegy brings us 10 tracks of soaring, fuzzy noisescapes that are both lush and withering. A thick haze forms over each track, at some points obscuring the senses entirely in pieces such as Calrn which seem to be performed in some otherworldly etherial cavern, then broadcast to the countryside over AM radio. It’s musty and dusty and I love it.

What really grips me about this album is the hidden melodies my brain finds. There is a very therapeutic and rewarding quality to the blissed-out leads that seem to drift in and out of the mix.  It’s often right when I am beginning to succumb to the world the track is building, the moment disbelief is suspended, that these melodies creep onto the canvas and introduce a whole new vibe! These gems are what make this album a good repeat listen in my opinion; being an album that can be enjoyed both subliminally and intellectually.

You can download the album via Bandcamp or purchase a Deluxe CD edition via Wist Records which looks so cool! It’s got tons of additional goodies

This Is Reverbnetics, by バーチャルボーイA T S U and Lisergishnu

a1029467635_10

Adhesive Sounds presents another marvelous project in This Is Reverbtronics, by バーチャルボーイA T S U and Lisergishnu. Lingering somewhere between Vaporwave and Synthwave, Reverbtronics does a splendid job of building an environment using a sonic toolkit. Dystopian and desolate, yet sprinkled with endearing hope.

Everyday, computers around us leave waves of resonance in our
lives. The binary echoes in our minds, from which our affection
to connectivity cannot be hidden.

Plastic cases hold the intrinsic desires of progress, plastered in
electrical traffic encoding our souls. Hidden pagodas which
manage our information highways beneath the soil.

Loneliness can be just an option for those immersed in this clash
of magnetic dissonance illuminating our world.

Those within the reverbnetics.

Surrender EP, by Alexia Avina

a1786261401_10.jpg

Surrender is the latest EP from Québec bedroom artist Alexia Avina. Much like her previous work, this project is glittering with mellow brilliance. Achieving a vibe somewhere between melancholy and hopefulness, its quite a satisfying listen. You can grab the EP at your chosen price via Bandcamp.

And if that wasn’t enough, thanks to Moon Boy Records, you can purchase the project on a split Cassette, featuring a bonus B-side EP from Desert Bloom.

the last months of 2016 for me were a period marked by the practice of surrendering with equal reverence to a complex flood of emotions, difficult endings, and budding beginnings… i’d like to think this batch of songs emerged from that same stream.

Tint, by Rhucle

a0564588341_10

Fresh from Lillerne Tapes out of Chicago, Tint is a gorgeous ambient album by Tokyo producer Rhucle. The project is a beautiful collection of 7 relaxing tracks, all of which do a great job painting a sonic picture as blissful and relaxing as the Album Artwork.

Rhucle does a magnificent job blending sweet melodies with natural recordings. The result is meditative and relaxing. At this moment, you can still pick up the project on Cassette Tape, or download the Digital Edition via Lillerne Tapes Bandcamp.

I first heard of Tokyo’s Rhucle through 2015’s Summer Candle CS via Oxtail Recordings. The perfect mixture of natural sounds and outdoor field recordings set against quietly drifting synth melodies struck a chord immediately and I was hooked. Tint is another reflection on the power of these natural elements and recordings in relation to the emotive and soothing musical accompaniment floating nearby. These are intricate compositions made with great care and consideration—both humbling and cathartic at the same time. Edition of 50 pro-dubbed Type II/Chrome cassettes with full-color, double-sided artwork.

HV040 Desolate Horizons – I Thought I’d Never Find You

“I Thought I’d Never Find You” was recorded from December 2014 to February 2015 originally for the split with ‘The Last Before Falling’ but unfortunately, it has never been officially released. And now I decided to rewrite one track called “I Stood There Calling Out Your Name” to finally give a life to this release.

“I Thought I’d Never Find You” is inspired by my own dreams and experiences obtained in them. To some extent, this is quite a sad story, but this story has a happy ending.

This is an archival recording. Thank you for listening

Desolate Horizons is a dronegaze/ambient/shoegaze one-man project from Russia. Side-project of C. Horizon, the only member of thehappymask.
