One Day We’ll All Walk Outside And Stare Up At The Blameless Sky And Wait For Something To Happen, by LOST TRAIL

Good morning music fans! I am sitting here this calm Monday morning, treating myself to the latest offering from drone-duo LOST TRAIL of North Carolina.

Released by Soft Recordings on January 18th, ODWAWOASUATBSAWFSTH is a full length 9-track album from noisescape specialists Zachary Corsa and Denny Wilkerson Corsa. The album claims to be “A dark, dark journey of spirits and alchemy conjured in the supernaturally hot, still spring of 2014”, and boy does it deliver.

From the onset of the first track to the last, these pieces are lathered and soaked in darkness and brooding emotion. Even within somewhat positive and melodic tracks, such as “Join Hands as the Dark Decends”, harbor a very interesting spiritual and emotional quality. The fuzzy loops spinning all around invokes a hauntingly pleasing sadness, if you allow yourself to fall into the music…

Start to finish, this is a deeply satisfying drone release, á lá 4 course meals satisfying, or resting after an 18 hour drive satisfying. I found myself spinning this one top-to-bottom back-to-back, looking deeper into the cracks, trying to pick out lost sounds and new flavors. This is positively one of my favorite LOST TRAIL releases thus far, and I am so excited to see the duo starting 2015 off with such a strong statement. Looking forward to much more sonic expansion in the coming year….
